As a corrections chaplain the collar is my dress uniform. From personal experience I can tell you that the collar is much more comfortable than a neck tie. I agree it does gain you faster access in many facilities. As for color I wear many (blue, gr…

We need more preachers, chaplains, and people in the pews with shiny knees on their pant legs. It may not be a fashion statement, but it would sure make a statement.

Senate Prayer #8

"Our Father God...
Help us to command this new day, meeting its joys with praise, its difficulties with fortitude, its doubts with fidelity. Direct our steps, guard us from error, deliver us from all evil; help us to sit where others sit, seeing life's tangled skein through the eyes of those less fortunate than ourselves. So make us faithful ministers of this stricken generation. We ask it in the dear Redeemer's name. Amen"

Senate Prayer #7

Our Father God,
...Forgive our foolish ways and our faltering faith. Our lives are so cluttered with the trivial and the trifling that mistaken magnitudes keep us from fixing our hearts on the great issues that at last prove to be the factors of our destiny. When common bushes along the way of our daily toil flame with divine fire, forgive us that so often we stand on holy ground with irreverent feet and unseeing eyes, conscious of the bush but not of the flame....

Senate Prayer #6

“Lift us, we pray Thee, above the foggy valley of narrow loyalties and partisan interests to vaster vistas where small things are seen as small, and great things as great. In all our attitudes and decisions give us perspective and horizon. Remove far from us even unconscious bigotries and antipathies. Help us to recognize truth and to welcome revelation, from whatever quarter they arise. Disappointed with ourselves, shamed by our sins, defeated by life, haunted by fears, wounded by the world, we… Continue

A Little Chaplain Humor

Chaplain Aims High
A couple was touring the Capitol in Washington and the guide pointed to a tall, benevolent gentleman as the congressional chaplain. The lady asked, "What does the chaplain do? Does he pray for the Senate or House?" The guide answered, "No, he gets up, looks at the Congress, then prays for the country!"

Hey Steve,
Thanks for the welcome and the compliment.
Interesting position you have there in MN, do you raise your support or draw a salary from the district?
Blessings to you!
